Suramadu 2
Inaugurated on June 11, 2009, the Suramadu bridge aims to facilitate the flow of traffic of people and goods between Surabaya and Madura Island, as well as improve the economy of the community, especially in Madura and Surabaya and the rest of East Java Province. In order to ensure this, it is necessary to build a permanent bridge that connects the Surabaya and Madura areas through the Madura Strait. The Suramadu Bridge Construction Project started in 2003. This was marked by the first erection of the Suramadu Bridge causeway piers on August 20, 2003 by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri. The first phase of the construction of the Suramadu Bridge was completed in December 2004, with the construction progress of the Surabaya side having reached 17 spans and the Madura side 16 spans.
The construction of the main span of the Suramadu Bridge was marked by the declaration of the first "bored pile" erection by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, on July 2, 2004. Furthermore, in the 2005 fiscal year, the implementation of the work began with funds from the APBN and Chinese loans. The signing of the contract/Work Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Consortium of China Contractors (CCC) was carried out on September 24, 2004. In terms of the contract, it is stipulated that the Contractor is obliged to make a Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for the Middle Span (Main Bridge & Approach Bridge) during the mobilization period. Supervision activities for DED preparation in the Construction Management Consultancy Service Package Phase I (Design Checker) for the Construction of the Suramadu Bridge.
As it is known that the construction of the Suramadu bridge is a national project, large and complex, it is necessary to provide consultancy services for Construction Management Phase II of Suramadu Bridge Construction.
PT. Pola agung consulting in 2006 was trusted to provide Construction Management Services in the construction of the Suramadu Bridge Phase II. PT. Pola Agung had the task of monitoring and evaluating and providing solutions to problems that arose to ensure that the construction of the Suramadu Bridge followed the predetermined quality, time and cost targets.
The Bridge, which was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, had a length of 5,348 meters that stretched along the Madura Strait, successfully setting a record at the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI). The Suramadu Bridge has a design life of 100 years, designed with a special system and has been adapted to the conditions of the bridge location, traffic density, rainfall, and wind. In addition to its function as transportation infrastructure, the Bridge of Pride for the citizens of Surabaya and Madura has become a tourist icon that attracts attention both domestically and internationally.
